Go Rangers!!

We did it! We went to opening night and survived! In fact, it was very enjoyable!! We left about 5 o'clock hoping to have time to change his diaper and clothes in the car once we got there. Traffic wasn't a problem, so we got there about 6 and had some time to kill. We got Evan ready and were trying to decide whether to take his carrier or not. We were watching other couples with kids walk by and we decided the more couples we saw with one or the other is what we would do. So, last minute we decided not to take the carrier which overall turned out to be the better decision. We head to the game and by far the hardest part about it was having to carry Evan the mile walk to the ballpark. Mark carried him there and I carried him on the way back. Needless to say, we both have sore arms this morning.

We made it there in time to see the first pitch. Evan was wonderful the entire time. He "watched" the first two, maybe three innings. He got to see his first home run and his first grand slam. He is our Rangers lucky charm! Then all the excitement made him a little sleepy. The poor guy would fall asleep, then everyone would cheer and it would startle him. Thankfully, it didn't wake him up, it just made him jump, then he was right back to sleep. Around the fifth inning, he got hungry. We brought a bottle for him knowing that he couldn't make the whole game. He had his bottle and then he slept the rest of the game.

We left at the eighth inning hoping to beat some of the traffic out, but when your team annihilates the other team (insert evil laugh!!) a lot of people have the same idea.

The worst part of the entire night was leaving. Evan was asleep, but once we got in the car he woke up. I made the decision to go the "back way" out of the ballpark, but so did everyone else. It was the wrong decision. It took us 45 minutes just to get onto i-30. Those of you not from Dallas, that should take maybe max ten minutes. While we are waiting in traffic that is not moving Evan starts screaming. He is hungry! I climb in the back seat and feed him while we are sitting in non-moving traffic. Thankfully, he eats and by the time he finishes we are getting close to getting on the interstate, so we can all get safely situated in the car again. I think it took us about an hour and half to get home. LONG TRIP. BUT we made it, and now we know that we can successfully take Evan to a baseball game! He is a little trooper!!

For those of you that don't know: Rangers 12 Red Sox 5!!! GO RANGERS!!
