First day of school..

Fooled you huh? Well today my thoughts are with my multiple teacher friends. They all had their first day of school. I hope they all have a great year!! I have to say, a small morsel of me is sad to n0t be going to back to work. Now, that is a really small morsel because I don't think I could leave my little man while I worked for 9 hours. On the other hand, I still miss my kiddos from last year and I always loved the first week of school. The kids were on perfect behavior, actually happy to be at school, and you got to spend time getting to know everyone instead of focusing on STUPID test! I think about Harmony often. I miss my teachers friends TREMENDOUSLY!! Though, in the end, I would not have it any other way. I get to spend my days (some are VERY long) with my little guy, who melts my heart and works me to death! If only I could get paid in forms other than drool, spit up, and smiles! Okay I will take the smiles!

Life in the Hopper house is good. Sunday, Grammy and Pops, came over to babysit Evan. I had some much needed time out with Mark. We went to see Final Destination 5 in 3d. It was our first 3d movie in a long time and I really enjoyed it. I would like to see more movies in 3d. It didn't give me a headache like the old timey 3d movies did! The movie was disgusting. You know, your typical final destination movie. After the movie, we had some wings. Evan had a great time with Pop and Grammy because he went to bed at 6pm and did not get up until 4am. Sadly, he is back on his 3:30am wake up call. I feel bad for Evan though because I know he is teething and I am just trying to patiently wait until they break through. I think he will have 4 bottom teeth sometime soon!

Evan loves breakfast time. He is eating grown up oatmeal and scrambled eggs. He loves them and it sure beats baby food! I have slowly stopped making my own baby food and we are now using either our food (like eggs, oatmeal, toast) or he eats plum organics (thats a brand). He is really enjoying all these new foods and textures!

The heat is still here and doesn't look like it is going anywhere soon. Maybe just maybe, we will see fall in September! Evan and I want to go to the zoo, but I have a strict rule that it must be less than 95 degrees for a high to go. So maybe we can go in November, haha!

He just melts my heart! We still aren't crawling, but Evan is creative in his ways to get things!SO, I was trying to take his picture and what does he do? He keeps looking around me. He doesn't care about his mama. He wants to know where Troy, his favorite toy, is!

It's just so hot....

I am just so lazy. The heat makes me want to sit inside in front of the fan. It is really sad, but Evan and I have just been playing inside all day, everyday. We walk outside to get the mail or hang the diapers and that is it. I can not wait for fall to come, or rain, which ever decides to come first! There are so many fun things I have planned to do with Evan, but most are just not possible when it is 105 degrees outside. So, I guess is so many words, no new is good news.

I think Evan might be getting more teeth. I can't see or feel anything quite yet, but he seems to be really working on his gums. We will see. Also, about a week ago we started brushing Evan's teeth. He loves it for whatever reason. I hope it stays like that! He also seems to be on a pretty good "schedule." He gets up at 5:30 everyday and goes to bed at 8. He is having solids three times a day, but still getting his mommy milk every four hours. It is hard to believe, but in a few days he is going to be 7 months old. My little baby is just growing up so fast!

Yes, I am crazy!

Alright, so I have been getting a lot of questions about why the heck I give my 6 (almost 7 month) old real food. First off, I don't give it too him that much. I would like to, but Mark gets really nervous that he is going to choke. We just let Evan explore the food. Sometimes he puts it in his mouth, sometimes he doesn't, and most of the time he is not really eating it. There are foods however, like banana, that he will mush himself and then eat. He also enjoys waffles a lot! It really is quite a neat approach to giving babies food. It is called baby led weaning. It gives the baby the chance to decide what they want to eat and how much of it they want to eat. The whole theory is that baby feeds himself, and therefore, things he can't manage to get in his mouth, or can't mush enough, he won't eat, therefore he can't choke. Now choking is something that can happen no matter what kind of food babies eat, but there is no increased risk as long as you give appropriately sized food with proper supervision. Anyways, that is enough of that. I just wanted to share, so everyone else can know why I am so crazy :)

Well, last night was eventful. Evan went down at 7pm his normal time. Nothing really seemed out of the ordinary. Then, at about 10pm Evan woke up. Mark simple snuck in their, put his paci back in, and he was fine. Well, at 3am Evan woke up again. I went in their and put his paci in and he started moaning. I let him moan for about ten minutes because usually when he wakes up at this time he "sings" himself back to sleep in about 15 minutes. Unfortunately, twenty minutes later Evan is still moaning and kind of starting to cry. I know that if we get him out of his crib he will be up for two hours, so I don't get him out. Well, Mark can't take it anymore, so he goes and gets him out of the crib. Now we have Evan up for two hours. Mark, thankfully, watches him for a bit while I try to sleep and then I take over. When I take over about 4, I turn off all the lights hoping to get him back to sleep. Bad idea. As soon as I turn out the lights I can't see. What do I do? I trip over Troy and fall completely on my face while holding Evan. I was scared to death. I had thankfully cradled Evan so that he didn't hit the ground, but I still hit Evan and somehow we made a Troy, mommy, Evan sandwich. Troy ran off. Mark came running thinking I fell down the stairs (thank God I didn't!). I just cuddled Evan while Mark check his entire body for broken bones, bruises, ect. Evan wasn't terribly upset, but he wasn't happy. We cuddled him for a good thirty minutes until he was calm. We then went to sleep and slept for an hour or so. It is now noon and I am happy to say he is wonderful. You would not even know that happened this morning. Thankfully I have a tough little cookie!

I survived!

Well, as many of you know, Mark was gone from Thursday to Sunday and Evan and I were home alone! I was very nervous to be left alone for so long with Evan, but it went really well. Now don't get me wrong. I was 100% ready for Mark to be home, but it was nice to know we can survive a long weekend. Thankfully, we had a fun filled Thursday with Laura, errands to run on Friday, and a fun filled evening with Mandy on Saturday. It helped make the weekend go by pretty fast. The down side is I feel like I haven't seen Mark in a week. He comes home, then right back to work the next day. I really like our weekends and the chance he gets to spend with me, and of course, Evan! I took a lot of pictures over the weekend, so enjoy! I have another blog for tomorrow, so assuming Evan takes a good nap, I'll have EVEN MORE pictures.....*hooray*
